from work with a big smile on his face and a surprise. He'd spent the day researching the ipad and bought one on the way home.
We've only gone for the cheapest 16gb Wifi version but for home browsing it's all we needed. The verdict is good. Yes, it is just a big iPhone (without the phone bit) but like the iPhone the screen and image quality is just breath taking. The few newspaper and magazine apps available truely show it is going to be THE way of getting your daily news/info in a deliciously readable format. Ok, I like to read proper paper books but for a quick scan of a newspaper it's great. We've not gone for The Times paid content option as we are more guardian readers and are sure their ipad app will be great if the iPhone app is anything to go by.
Life changing? Er yes and no. It means andy will now spend the evening playing chess on the ipad in the front room with me instead of being hidden away upstairs on the desktop. It's much neater to have a tablet Device than a laptop. The cat doesn't seem to get as jealous of the ipad for some reason. It is definitely a welcome addition to our home. I challenge anyone to go to see one in store and not feel some sort of pangs of desire even of you don't need one as such.
