Mandatory Fun

Mandatory fun: A celebratory business event that holds no interest for you but requires attendance since names are being taken.

Last night we went bowling with work as a team building exercise. We all went for a meal where we managed to squeeze 10 people in to a booth so we had to bond with each other in ways we had never imagined possible. Then we were put in to teams and pitted against each other in a cut throat bowling game where the winners were exhaulted, the steady eddies were given a pat on the back and those that were "bowlingly" challenged (sorry i just couldn't think of a PC term that would cover this so i've had to neologise badly there) were patted on the head, allowed to use the barriers and consoled with a boobie prize. The phrase "there are no losers" was used but when the results of the first round were announced the bottom team was called what? .... The Losers! Nice touch hehehe. You're all losers but there are No losers...

Looking back this was not so much a team building exercise as a test of our competitive natures with some very illuminating results. Here are some suggestions for our next team "building" activities...

1. A Paintballing Free for all! - Our bosses get unlimited paintballs and we all get a 5 min head start and some decent running shoes.
2. Bare knuckle fighting - to the death. This could ensure only the strong survive and the weak are eliminated therefore leaving a more streamlined but hardy team to run the company.

Contact me if you have any other suggestions...

Ok, so you might want to know where I came in all of this, and i'm proud to say I topped the steady eddies group in the final and won second prize... which was always my plan so mission successful hehehe.
