Those of you who follow my Twitter stream will know I got slightly annoyed today. I spent all morning at work re-adjusting to the week after a nice weekend. I planned to go swimming at lunch time. but of course spent most of the morning trying to think of excuses to not go as I'm inherently lazy. But, when 12 o clock arrived I decided to drag my currently oversized ass down to the gym to use the pool. Anyway, I arrived and for a few minutes I felt good St the prospect of starting the week off healthily but that was short lived. It was immediately obvious that the geriatrics had just been having an aqua aerobics session... Which frankly looks like synchrinised bobbing around in the water rather than exercise!... At least it was over, or so I thought. I waited a few minutes for the little huddles of men and women to clear the pool or to move to the sides or the jacuzzi, which is normally more than enough exercise for most of them, but they didn't move! They just carried on their gossiping and comparing their aches and pains and just ignored the fact that there were people actually tring to get some exercise. I swam several lengths, avoiding the two women who were WALKING widths of the pool while chatting and refusing to let their perms touch the water. Then having to swim round the elderly man who was just doing his best to stay afloat. It was more like swimming a slalom course than doing lengths. I was fuming. After 10 mins of these constant and seemingly purposeful obstructions I comically climbed out of the Pool tutting audibley and making disparing gestures to the 10 year old looking life guard and then I stomped the full length of the side of the pool and in to the dressing rooms diva style. The funny thing is the daft old gits probably didn't notice.
Ok I sound very impatient but really I'm not usually so bad but it was mainly because I'd dragged myself there and was scuppered at the last post.
Tomorrow, I'm going to attempt to use the gym in my lunch hour. Knowing my luck it will be geriatrics yoga or the over 60's
(trying to keep the young from getting fit) club's Tuesday treadmill hog.
Ho hum...
